The Result of 1st Online Executive PhD Entrance Test (E-PET) 24 October 2021
is declared on 27 October 2021.

    Preamble

  • The University Grants Commission had notified in the Gazette of India under the ‘Minimum Standards and procedures for award of MPhil/PhD degree regulation, 2009’ that the procedure for admission for these degrees should be through an Entrance Test conducted at the level of individual University, followed by an interview to be organized by the Department/University. Further at the time of the interview the students are expected to discuss their research interest/area and only a pre-determined number of students may be admitted to the PhD programme.
  • Subsequently in supersession of the above mentioned notification, the new notification called ‘University Grants Commission (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of MPhil/PhD degrees) Regulations, 2016’ mentions that the admission should be a two stage process i.e.
    • (i) An entrance test with qualifying marks as 50%. The syllabus of the entrance test shall consist of 50% research methodology and 50% shall be subject specific.
    • (ii) An interview/viva voce to be organized where the candidates discuss their research interest/area through a presentation before a duly constituted Department Research Committee.

    Eligibility Criteria For Executive PhD Programme

  • A candidate for the Executive PhD Programme should have a minimum of five years of work experience in a middle-scaled organization of repute in the respective field.
  • A candidate for the Executive PhD Programme must have one of the following qualifications obtained from any of the universities incorporated by an act of the Central or State legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an act of parliament or deemed to be the university under section 3 of UGC Act, 1956, or possess an equivalent qualification recognized by the Ministry of HRD, Government of India, or an equivalent qualification from an institution approved by AICTE, New Delhi or Equivalent Statutory Bodies/Councils; or any discipline or allied discipline or a Post-Graduate qualification from recognized foreign universities or institutions.
    • A Master’s degree in any discipline, with at least 55 percent aggregate marks or Equivalent Grade Point Average
      OR
    • A Post-Graduate Programme/Executive Post-Graduate Programme / Post Graduate Programme for Working Executives from IIMs/IITs and or an Equivalent          Educational Qualification         obtained      from State/Central/Deemed/Private Universities with Minimum Grade Point Equivalent to 6.0 out of 10-Point Scale
      OR
    • A Professional qualification like CA, ICWA, ICMA, CS etc. with at least 55 per cent aggregate marks or Equivalent Grade Point Average
      OR
    • A Five year/Four-year Integrated Master’s Degree Programme in any discipline, with at least 55 percent aggregate marks, obtained after completing Higher Secondary schooling (10+2) or equivalent.
  • Age should not be more than 55 years at the time admission to Executive PhD Programme.
  • Minimum 5 years of Managerial/Entrepreneurial/Professional Experience at the time Admission after Post-Graduation.
  • The Candidate shall be required to pass the Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda Executive PhD Entrance Test (E-PET) with 50%.

      Exemption From Clearing The Msub Executive Phd Entrance Test [E-PET]
    • The candidates who have qualified in National/ State level competitive examination such as UGC-CSIR / NET / SET / GATE / GPAT / DBT / ICMR / JRF as well as M.Phil. degree holders are exempted from appearing in Executive PhD Entrance Test [E- PET] Examination.
    • A BRIEF ABOUT MSUB EXECUTIVE PhD ENTRANCE TEST [E-PET]
      • The MSUB Executive PhD Entrance Test will comprise of the Online Written Test.
      • The question papers of Executive PhD Entrance Test will be objective type in nature, in English language only.
      • The Syllabus of the Executive PhD Entrance Test shall consist of 50% Research Methodology and 50% Subject Specific.
      • After qualifying the Executive PhD Entrance Test, candidate shall be required to discuss his or her research through PowerPoint Presentation of Research Proposal on an identified and chosen Research Topic /Research Problem which will be followed by Aptitude Interview and or Viva Voce by a duly constituted Faculty Level Research Advisory Committee (FLRAC)/ Institute Level Research Committee (ILRAC).

    About E-PET

  • In view of the above mentioned notification of UGC, it is proposed that the E-PET examination to be conducted by The M. S. University of Baroda should broadly follow the guidelines set by the UGC i.e. Paper I will be similar to the Paper I of the NET/SET examination of UGC having a weightage of 50%. Paper II will be subject specific taking into consideration all the departments of the University where the PhD degree is offered. For the engineering and the pharmacy faculty the test could be subject specific as is followed in the GATE examination and the GPAT examination respectively.
  • Paper I will cover the UGC syllabus of research methodology with 50 multiple choice questions and all are compulsory. Each question carries 1 mark thus the total marks in Paper I will be 50.

    Paper II will be subject specific including GK/ICT and will contain 50 multiple choice questions and all are compulsory, each question carrying 1 mark. Thus the total marks in Paper II is 50.
  • The qualifying marks for Paper I & Paper II will be 50% of those obtained in Paper I and Paper II put together. Students from reserved category (SEBC, ST, SC, PwD(PH/VH)) will have a lower qualifying marks of 45%. There will be no negative marks for wrong answers. Merit list will be prepared, category wise taking into consideration the aggregate marks for Paper I & Paper II put together, by a committee constituted by the Vice Chancellor.

    Online E-PET Schedule

  • 1st Online Executive Ph. D. Entrance Test will be conducted on Sunday, 24th October 2021.

    Candidates can appear in Online E-PET from their own place/home.

    Validity

  • The validity of the E-PET examination is lifelong. A candidate who has qualified the E-PET examination henceforth is eligible to register for Executive PhD in The M. S. University of Baroda in any department/subject whenever she/he desires and as per the academic schedule of the University and also depending on the vacancy with a particular PhD supervisor.

    Equivalence

  • The equivalence of Executive PhD degree is subject to approval by the concerned statutory bodies.

    E-PET fee

  • The entrance test fee is Rs. 2000/-

    • The main objective is to assess the inclination and the research capabilities of the candidates. Therefore the test is aimed at assessing the general research aptitude as well awareness. The candidates are expected to have and express cognitive abilities. These should be comprehension of existing knowledge, analysis and evaluation of the same. The candidate should have the necessary skills to understand the structure of arguments and also be able to give proper reasoning.
